The course illustrates the phenomena and processes of the medieval millennium, highlighting the most significant chronological and conceptual links and aiming to transmit the basic knowledge necessary for understanding the European and Mediterranean societies of the time.
The course is organized in two parts:
a) part I (36 hours)
Chronology and main themes of late ancient and high medieval history are traced (V-IX centuries). Each lesson will focus on a topic but the networks of relationship (causal links, interdependencies, concause) among the various topics will be highlighted.
b) part II (36 hours)
Chronology and main themes of medieval and late medieval history (X-XV centuries) are reviewed. Each lesson will focus on a topic but the networks of relationship (causal links, interdependencies, concause) among the various topics will be highlighted.
