Xenophon's Anabasis: historical-geographical routes in the 10.000 Expedition.
The laboratory offers to students who have already approached the study of ancient Greek language the opportunity to improve their skills related to the morphology, syntax and lexicon of Greek by reading a text in prose of classical age. Translation exercises will be carried out to the imprint from the ancient Greek of passages in prose to allow the review and fixation of the knowledge of morphology.

Learning Objectives
The laboratory aims to consolidate the skills of phonetics and morphology already acquired and to improve the competence on the lexicon, the knowledge of syntax - also through examples and insights of the main constructs - and finally it focuses to strengthen the ability to read, understand and translate Greek texts into prose.
Prerequisites
Students must already have a basic knowledge of the phonetics, morphology and grammar of ancient Greek language, and be able to translate simple sentences without the help of the dictionary.
Teaching Methods
Interactive lessons, alternating forms of frontal teaching with forms of practical learning, with active participation of students: reading and translation in the classroom, accompanied by continuous work of exercise at home.
Further information
Regular and active attendance in the lessons is recommended in order to establish a profitable dialogue and resolve any doubts and uncertainties. Students are invited to meet the teacher at scheduled time (published on web site) for any problem related to the course.
Attending course is obligatory for a minimum of two-thirds out of the total amount of hours.

Type of Assessment
The final exam consists of an interview aimed at ascertaining the acquisition of knowledge and skills.
Learning, consisting both in the acquisition of grammatical notions and in the ability to apply the knowledge acquired for the comprehension and translation of the text, will be verified through a final oral examination, which will focus primarily on the translation and analysis of a passage from Xenophon's Anabasis that has already been translated and also of another passage of the same work not analysed in the laboratory.
