During the workshop some famous scenes in the funerary chapels belonging to élite people will be examined, both from the formal point of view, and focusing on their meaning and aim. Similar scenes from different periods will be compared, in order to show not only stylistic, but also cultural developments.
Main goal of the workshop is to let the students develop their learning skills, their knowledge and understanding of the characteristic ancient Egyptian stylistic features: conventions of bidimensional figures in relief or painting, location of scenes in the tomb, transformation of themes and details, in accordance with cultural and religious transformations.
Prerequisites
None, but it is of course better to have already read about ancient Egyptian history and civilization.

Lessons ; images and didactic material provided by the teacher.
Type of Assessment
Oral examination: the students are requested to recognize and be able to set in the proper background some images among those already examined during the workshop.
