Course Content
The course will present a methodological framework of the discipline and a deepening on main themes of Greek history from the Archaic to the Hellenistic age.

- to develop essential knowledge of bibliographic and digital tools for the study of the discipline;

Teaching Methods
Lectures with the support of ppt; reading and commenting of sources in translation.
Further information
Regular and active attendance in the lessons is recommended in order to establish a profitable dialogue with the teacher and among the students. The exam not attending is provided only in special cases and after agreement with the teacher to establish the program.
Type of Assessment
The exam is oral for all students, even those who do not attend lectures and exchange students (Erasmus and other programmes). The test consists of three questions
1) methodological introduction and tools; 2) a sketch of Greek History; 3) sources for the reconstruction of Greek History.
These three parts may be assessed by means of one or two complex questions which cover all the areas. During the exam, students may be asked to analyze materials discussed and made available through the e-learning platform.
Students must demonstrate sufficient knowledge in all three parts to pass the exam.
The marks obtained in the three parts are added to yield the final mark. The exam is designed to test:
-Knowledge of the basic concepts of Greek History and the main related interpretative problems;
-Ability to read, evaluate and interpret an ancient historical source;
- Ability to use the terminology of the discipline appropriately.

Course program
The course includes a profile of Greek history on themes up the rise of Roman rule, a selection on the main sources useful for the reconstruction of Greek History, a systematic review on all the tools for the study of Ancient History (collection of texts, databases, main reference sitography etc.).
