The course is intended to investigate history of images (photographs, paintings , etc. ) and of their vision. From an interdisciplinary perspective it analyzes images not as isolated work of arts, but as result of cultural processes.

Learning Objectives
The course will allow students to recognize and define the major theories about images (painting, photographs, and images tout court) and recognize the major works of art from the second half of the nineteenth and the entire twentieth century. They will be also able to formulate a synthetic narrative tracing art developments in 19th- and 20th-century.

Full Knowledge of Medieval and Early Modern/ Modern Art History

Type of Assessment
Students will be evaluated on the basis of an oral examination in which they will discuss the required texts and analyze selected works of art in formal and conceptual terms
